A Google Forms alternative is useful when the way you collect information matters as much as the questions themselves. You might want to draft without signing into Google, add a drawn signature, keep an editable HTML copy or move responses into a CSV workflow. Comet Forms offers another way to prepare forms, surveys and quizzes. Choosing it should depend on those concrete requirements, not on a claim that every feature of one service is better than another.

You can open the builder and work on a local draft without a Google account or a Comet Forms account. That draft stays in your browser. Hosted publishing is a separate step: saving a form, creating a public collection link and reviewing hosted responses require signing in to CSV Tools Online. Visitors filling a published form do not need a creator account. This distinction helps you decide whether a local prototype or managed online collection is the right starting point.

The survey template contains a single-choice question, a multiple-choice question, a one-to-five satisfaction scale and an optional comment. Replace the placeholder questions with wording appropriate to your audience. Ask one thing per question and provide options that are neither overlapping nor misleading. If the purpose is a workshop poll, use the radio question for attendance and the checkbox question for topics. Keep an optional comment for suggestions that do not fit the choices.

Comet Forms supports conditional visibility, multi-step pages and scored questions in the same editor. These are specific tools to reduce repetition or organize a longer flow. For example, show a follow-up question only after a respondent selects a relevant answer. Preview every branch to check that a required question does not appear in a path where it makes no sense. A signature pad records a drawn mark; it should not be presented as identity verification or a guarantee of legal enforceability.

If spreadsheet analysis is central to your workflow, the hosted Responses view exports CSV. CSV is a text table rather than an Excel workbook, so it does not retain charts, cell styles or workbook formulas. You can open it in Excel or convert it using the site’s CSV to Excel tool. Check the headers and a few representative answers after importing. Leading zeros, long identifiers and regional date notation deserve particular attention before sharing an analysis.

There are also limits to compare honestly. The current file field records a filename, not an uploaded attachment. The standalone HTML export works independently and does not submit to the hosted Responses view. Local save-and-resume uses the same browser rather than cross-device synchronization. Offline queuing requires a form that has already loaded. If actual document uploads, enterprise administration or a particular integration are essential, verify those requirements before committing to this builder.

Comet Forms is a free, no-signup form builder by CSV Tools Online. It is an option for people who want to draft first and use familiar CSV tools afterwards. Before replacing an existing form, recreate one real scenario and test the full path from question to downloaded response. Preserve the original collection process until you have checked required answers, conditional questions, the completion message and the data that arrives in your spreadsheet. That is a more useful comparison than a feature checklist alone.

Example

A small workshop can ask one attendance question, a multiple-choice topic question and a satisfaction score, then export hosted responses to CSV for analysis.
