HEIC to PNG Converter
Lossless PNG copies of your HEIC photos, with transparency kept.
Drop HEIC photos here
Photos stay on your device. You can also paste with Ctrl/Cmd+V.
Convert HEIC to PNG when you need a lossless image: every pixel of the decoded photo is kept, and transparent areas stay transparent. PNG files are much larger than JPG, so use it for editing, design work or screenshots rather than sharing holiday photos.
How to use it in 3 steps
- Drop your HEIC files on the box.
- Wait for each photo to show Done with its new size.
- Download the PNGs one by one or as a ZIP.
Why HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container, also called HEIF) is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. It keeps roughly the same quality as JPG in about half the space, which is why Apple uses it.
The catch is compatibility: Windows needs an extra codec to open HEIC, most websites, forms and older apps reject it, and many Android phones and print services can't read it. Converting to JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF gives you a file that opens everywhere. This converter decodes the photo in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel exactly, while HEIC uses very efficient lossy compression. A 2 MB iPhone photo commonly becomes a PNG of 10 MB or more.
Yes. If the HEIC image has an alpha (transparency) channel, the PNG keeps it. Normal iPhone camera photos have no transparency, so they convert as fully opaque images.
No. PNG is lossless, so there is nothing to tune; the output always matches the decoded photo exactly. If you need smaller files, convert to JPG or WebP instead.
No. The PNG contains only the image; date and location are not copied. Use HEIC to JPG if you need to keep photo info.
No. Photos are converted by your browser on your own device; nothing is uploaded to a server, so they stay private.
