Converting CSV to JSON
The converter reads the first row of your CSV as field names and turns every following row into a JSON object with those keys. The result is a JSON array of objects, indented with 2 spaces, which you can copy or download as a .json file. Conversion runs in your browser.
Steps
- Upload a .csv file or paste CSV text, with column names in the first row.
- Click Convert to JSON.
- Check the output, then copy it or download the .json file.
Worked example
| CSV input | JSON output |
|---|---|
| id,name,city 1,Ana,Lisbon 2,Raj,Pune | [{ "id": "1", "name": "Ana", "city": "Lisbon" }, { "id": "2", "name": "Raj", "city": "Pune" }] |
Limits and edge cases
- All values are written as JSON strings ("1", not 1), so number and true/false types are not guessed.
- Values that contain commas must be wrapped in double quotes in the CSV, for example "Lisbon, Portugal".
- Semicolon- and tab-separated files are usually detected automatically; if columns look merged, check the separator.
- Empty lines are skipped.
- For one JSON object per line (JSONL), use CSV to JSONL instead.
